Бұл мақалада 2020–2023 жылдар аралығында Қазақстан мен Өзбекстандағы онлайн-газеттердің шағын және орта кәсіпорындарды (ШОК) қалай сипаттағаны қарастырылады. Зерттеуде ШОК-қа берілген экономикалық және әлеуметтік рөлдер, әртүрлі акторлардың медиадағы көріну деңгейі, сондай-ақ жеке кәсіпорындар мен мемлекет арасындағы қатынастар талданады. Зерттеу Қазақстанға қатысты 113 және Өзбекстанға қатысты 74 мақаладан тұратын барлығы 187 газет мақаласына салыстырмалы сапалық контент-талдау және фреймдік талдау жүргізуге негізделген. Әр мақалаға бір негізгі мазмұндық санат және ШОК рөлдерін, акторлардың көрінуін, мемлекет пен ШОК арасындағы қатынастарды, мемлекеттік саясат мақсаттарын, жауапкершіліктің жүктелуін және уақыттық контексті қамтитын басым кодтар берілді. Зерттеу нәтижелері екі елде де ШОК дамуының мемлекетке бағдарланған сипатта ұсынылғанын көрсетеді. Мемлекеттік лауазымды тұлғалар мен мемлекеттік органдар кәсіпкерлерге қарағанда медиада көбірек көрініс тапты, ал реттеу мен мемлекеттік қолдау нарықтық дербестікке қарағанда басымырақ болды. Қазақстандық материалдарда ШОК реттеушілік, қаржылық, логистикалық және сыртқы қысымдардың әсеріне ұшырайтын осал кәсіпорындар ретінде жиірек сипатталды. Өзбекстандық материалдарда мемлекеттік қолдау бағдарламаларына көбірек назар аударылып, ШОК экономикалық реформалар аясында көмек алушы ретінде жиірек ұсынылды. Зерттеу екі елдің газет материалдарында ШОК экономикалық тұрғыдан маңызды акторлар ретінде көрсетілгенімен, олардың қызметі мемлекетпен тығыз байланысты болып қалғанын қорытындылайды.
